Overview


Clegg Gifford was founded in 1967 as a general insurance broker, which later evolved into a Lloyd's Broker. The company provide a broad spectrum of insurance products, both personal and commercial. Clegg Gifford operates from four offices; its head office is located in Romford, and it also has offices in Peterborough, Jersey and Guernsey.

Historical Pension Schemes


Steve Cook began working with Clegg Gifford in 2001 when he worked for GH Macdonald Pensions and Financial Services, as the company wanted to set up a pension scheme to comply with Stakeholder legislation for their staff. These schemes were introduced to encourage more long-term saving for retirement, and employers with five or more employees were required to provide their staff with access to these schemes.

Staff & Scheme Growth


Steve worked with the HR Department to set up a group personal pension plan with Standard Life for the company’s workforce in 2001. In January 2009 the clients of G H Macdonald Pensions and Financial Services Limited were purchased by Lonsdale Services Limited and Steve moved to Lonsdale Services along with his administration team. The scheme has grown steadily and now has over 60 members.

Ongoing Services


Steve is available to meet new employees and discuss their pension requirements. He has also provided more general financial planning advice for other employees. Every year he visits the Romford office to hold a pension surgery and when required presents to the staff updating them on any financial regulatory changes.

Dedicated Pension Administrator


Clegg Gifford also benefit from having a dedicated pension administer. Dawn Overton is based in Lonsdale Benefit Consultant’s St Albans office and she administers the Clegg Gifford pension scheme and answers queries for individual scheme members.

Auto Enrolment


Steve worked on Clegg Gifford’s auto enrolment project ensuring their current pension scheme was a qualifying workplace pension scheme, and providing them with general auto enrolment advice in order for them to meet their 2014 staging date.
