Providing Auto Enrolment Advice

Based across the country from Norfolk to Cheshire, Jack Richards and Son established in 1956 have developed into one of the country’s largest independent haulage companies in the UK with over 300 employees.

Jack Richards and Son appointed Lonsdale Benefit Consultants to manage their auto enrolment pension provision after being informed that they would not be supported by their existing provider.

When Richard Porter (IFA Lonsdale Services Ltd) reviewed Jack Richards and Son’s pension provision he found they were operating two group Standard Life pension schemes. He recommended they amalgamate both pensions into a new group pension scheme for all staff. He negotiated improved staff terms and better online access for employees.

Jack Richards and Son had already communicated with staff before they appointed Lonsdale Benefit Consultants, but due to the complexity of the auto enrolment project they postponed their staging date. Auto enrolment was introduced in April 2014.

With a traditional four weekly payroll plus different pay schemes amongst the drivers - assessing the workforce was always going to be complicated. Richard recommended we assess the workforce through our payroll and this is working really well.
