Friday 19 July, 2019

Stewart Sims-Handcock, our chartered financial planner and member of the Ringwood financial planning team recently attended Ringwood School and presented the Personal Finance Society Discover Fortunes training.

The students from year 10-12 are all studying Business Studies either at GCSE or first year A Level.  As well as understanding the role of a financial planner, students were introduced to the concepts of protection, pension, savings and investments through an interactive game.

Stewart Sims-Handcock, financial planner in Ringwood, Hampshire said:

‘I recently joined the Personal Finance Society’s pro bono initiative to become an Education Champion and was delighted to be invited into Ringwood School to present to their students.  The primary aim of the Personal Finance Society training is to deliver elements of financial education to schools through the programme, starting with Discover Fortunes training.’

Ringwood School is an 11-18 National Teaching Academy. The school is situated in Ringwood, Hampshire, and currently has over 1600 students. It was a specialist Language College but has successfully become an Academy in April 2011 and gained National Teaching School status in July 2011.

Stewart Sims-Handcock, financial planner in Ringwood, Hampshire continued:

‘I really enjoyed meeting the Ringwood School students and introducing them to financial planning as it is so important that young people are educated in finance as there are so many financial decisions that they need to make very early on in their life.   The sessions are designed to provide them with a base for understanding concepts such as: protection, pensions, saving and investments. At Lonsdale Services we recommend anyone new to financial planning reviews our New to Investing webpage or read our Beginner’s Guide to Investing guide. Discover Fortunes training also allows students to gain a greater understanding of the financial planning profession and the range of careers opportunities available to them.’
